Who is the Husband of Vasundhara Raje Scindia?

Vasundhara Raje Scindia is the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan. She is expected to become CM again after landslide victory of the BJP in Rajasthan Assembly Election in 2023. 



Vasundhara Raje comes from the widely respected Scindia family of Gwalior. She was born to Vijaya Raje Scindia and Jivaji Rao Scindia. Her mother had deep influence on her political thinking. People want to know about her personal life. However, unfortunately, very little information is there in the public domain about her personal life. You may be surprised to know that quite a little amount of people are actually know about the husband of Vasundhara Raje in Rajasthan or MP (her native state). 

Husband of Vasundhara Raje Scindia

Vasundhara Raje was married to the royal family of Dholpur. The name of her husband is Hemant Singh. However, she didn’t enjoy a happy married life. Just about one year after the marriage, the couple got separated. Vasundhara was then pregnant. Her mother Vijaya Raje supported her in this battle. She fought a sort of battle against her in-laws, including Hemant Singh. She has a son, Dushyant Singh (BJP MP) from this marriage.

When she got separated, she was quite young. There were lots of marriage offers for her. Even Vijaya Raje Scindia wanted her to again get married. However, she resisted any such attempt. Her only aim was to give the best possible care to Dushyant Singh. 

What was the reason behind this separation? It is said that extra marital relationship of Hemant Singh was the main reason behind this. In 1978, Vijaya Raje Scindia filed a petition in the court that Dushyant Singh, being the legal heir of Dholpur Royal family, should get some right in the property. Dushyant Singh fought this battle for about 30 long years. However, one thing that needs to be taken care of is the fact that Vasundhara Raje always kept herself away from the entire legal processes. 

The compromise between Hemant Singh and his Dushyant Singh happened in 2007. In this out of court settlement, it was decided that Dushyant will get the entire property of the royal family in Dholpur and Shimla. His father Hemant Singh got the property based at Delhi, including jewelry. It should be noted that Dholpur House in Delhi belong to Hemant Singh (UPSC building is also known as Dholpur House).

The Caste Combination

Maharaja Hemant Singh, the husband of Vasundhara Raje Scindia, is a Jat. She belongs to Scindia dynasty who is Maratha Rajput. Her association with Jat worked during election. In Rajasthan, Jats still consider her as their own.

Dushyant Singh, son of Hemant and Vasundhara Raje, is married to a Gujjar girl.
