It is said that Sarla Mishra immolated herself on February 14 in Bhopal. The year was 1997 and Digvijaya Singh was the Chief Minister of M. P.
Sarla Mishra was more than long term vice president of the MP State Youth Congress. She was also not only recognized by being the niece of V. C. Shukla and S. C. Shukla. She was widely regarded as one of the most powerful person of M.P. during the early years of Digvijaya Singh.
She was a permanent visitor of the CM House. It was really tough to say that whether she was staying with Digvijaya Singh or was going there on a regular basis.
The Suicide Note of Sarla Mishra
Before leaving this planet Earth, Sarla Mishra didn't left any suicide note. But, people close enough said that she was quite disturbed at that time.
What was the reason behind her frustration?
There is no denying that she was expecting ‘powerful gifts’ from Digvijay Singh like political posts for her ‘duty’ at the CM residence. But, unfortunately, there was nothing in the suicide note to indicate any sort of political frustration. At that point of time, there wasn’t any personal problem in her life. Then what was the reason behind this suicide?
The M.P. police closed the file instantly and called it a plain suicide.
But, people of MP still doubt something fishy. After immolating herself, Sarla had called the CM residence. Asha Singh, the wife of Digvijay had picked up the phone and listened to her. She didn’t call an ambulance, but rather decided to call Director of the health department and a close family friend Dr. Yograj Singh. The entire health department of MP ensured that nothing comes out as fishy.
There are some clear indications about her relationship with Digvijay Singh.
In an interview, Sarla had clearly accepted that she was making transfers in MP in lieu of heavy sums. But, she was expecting more.
Exploitation of Women
It is also said that Sarla murder case is a clear case of exploitation of women by heavyweight male politicians. And, the exploitation is in the nature of sex.
The case was transferred to the CBI. However, at that time a spineless Home Minister named L K Adwani was at helm. He left no stone unturned to make it a perfect suicide.
Then, who murdered Sarla Mishra?
There is nothing to say about it. No one has any proof regarding this. If the case is reopened at this juncture, nothing is expected to come out. But, an impartial agency should investigate the relationship between Sarla Mishra and Digvijay Singh and only this relationship can take this sensational ‘murder’ case to any end.
And, the BJP is again demanding CBI inquiry. They should first ask their senior leader L K Advani about the help he did to Digvijay Singh and his brother in this murder case.
