Artika Shukla
has made everyone proud with her stunning success in the UPSC Civil Services
Examination, 2015. She has achieved All India Rank 4 in this highly prestigious
competitive exam and that’s too without taking any coaching classes. It is also
commendable that for preparing Civil Services, she didn’t left her job or study
and continued to work as a Junior Resident at PIMER, Chandigarh. She is
brilliant and anyone looking for inspiration can glance over her stupendous achievement.

Profile of Artika Shukla
Artika was born
in Varanasi. She has always been a brilliant student. In fact, her parents used
to give quite a high importance to education. She is youngest among three
siblings. Her eldest brother, Dr. B. K. Shukla, is a pediatrician and
practicing in Kashi while the other brother, Gaurav Shukla, had cracked UPSC
Civil Services in 2012 and got IAS. He is currently posted in Guahati.
Artika studied
from St. John School, DLW, Varanasi. She was a throughout topper from this
school. After schooling, she cracked pre medical test and went to MAMCH, New
Delhi for MBBS. She has worked as an intern with Lok Nayak Hospital, Delhi and
later joined PGIMER, Chandigarh as a Junior Intern. She is currently doing MD
Pediatrics from Chandigarh. However, she will now go to Mussourie for IAS
training.
It was in 2013
when Artika decided to prepare for UPSC Civil Services. She couldn’t afford to
give much time for preparation and was completely relying on the inputs for
preparation from her IAS brother Gaurav. Her brother did lots of help and
provided useful tips, including his GS notes. Artika didn’t join any coaching
institute for obvious reasons. However, after clearing the Prelims, she had
gone for a test series for Mains and later did some Mock Interviews for
Interview preparation.

Artika recently got married. The motive of marriage was to change her cadre. In the surprising allocation, all three toppers of UPSC CSE 2016 were allocated Rajasthan while Artika was given AGUMT.
