Rishi Kumar Shukla: Profile, Wiki and Family

Rishi Kumar Shukla is a 1983 batch IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh Cadre. He has recently been appointed as the Director of CBI. Previously, he was the Director General of Police (DGP) of MP. He will have a fixed tenure of 2 years as CBI Director.



The tenure of Rishi Kumar Shukla will be keenly watched. The controversy surrounding the removal of Alok Varma has brought a big question on the impartiality and transparency of this premium investigating agency of India. Mr. Shukla has a clean record without any iota of allegations for giving any political favours. Apart from Modi, Justice Gogoi has also shown trust on him. Unfortunately, Mr. Khadge has sent a dissent note objecting that Mr. Shukla has no experience in investigation of corruption cases (but, he supports Rahul Gandhi for PM without the later having no experience in the Government).

 Rishi Kumar Shukla has pipped Rina Mitra, another MP Cadre IPS officer for the post of CBI Director. Ms. Mitra retired on 31st January and hence got out of the race because the PM led panel had its second meeting on 2nd February.
