Rajeev Rautela, IAS: Profile, Wiki, Family and Wife

Rajiv Rautela is a 2002 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer of Uttar Pradesh Cadre. He is considered an upright and honest officer. However, there is a wide difference between being honest and being efficient. An honest IAS officer, like Ashoke Khemka, may not be efficient. This is a paradox which the Government has to face from time to time. Same goes for Rajiv Rautela. He is definitely not an efficient officer. 


Rajiv also seems to be from the same category. He is honest. He is also utterly inefficient. No one can accuse him to let someone grease his palm, but at the same time, no one can confidently say that Rajiv can handle a tough and challenging situation.

The dilemma was there for Yogi Adityanath Government when they encountered the toughest challenge post Gorakhpur hospital tragedy. The government was not able to take disciplinary action against Rajiv Rautela, the DM of Gorakhpur. The Government is aware that DM turned out to be utterly inefficient and directly responsible for the disruption in the supply of Oxygen to ICU at BDR Hospital. Three persons – Rajiv Mishra, Dr. Kafeel Khan and Rajiv Rautela – were equally responsible to that fiasco. But, Yogi couldn’t take any action against Rajiv.

Profile of Rajiv Rautela

Rajiv was born and brought up in Uttarakhand – the birth state of Yogi Adityanath. After completing schooling, Rajiv took admission in St. John’s College, Kanpur. Later, he shifted to Allahabad to prepare for Civil Services Examination. He cracked UPPSC Civil Services in 1982 with credible rank. He was later promoted to the IAS in 2002 as per the prevailing rules of the UPSC.

Rajiv, being an honest officer, was of no use for Akhilesh Yadav Government. They had kept him in waiting for long. Further, an idiotic statement by Rajiv while being the DM of Aligarh didn’t help him. The shameful statement was against the Indian Army and our martyrs.

It is also said that Rajiv was selected to head the district administration of Gorakhpur just because him being a Rajput. 

 He was removed only after BJP lost Gorakhpur. He was sent to Uttarakhand where he was made Commissioner of Kumaon. Recently, Rajiv was made Vice Chancellor of Pantnagar University.
