Nikhil Nirmal is a 2011 IAS officer of West Bengal Cadre. He is known as a tough officer with no – nonsense attitude in taking administrative decisions. In a short span of time, he has gained recognition for being an officer who has always endeavoured to ensure that fruits of government programs and policies reach to down trodden section of the society.



Nikhil Nirmal is currently the District Magistrate/Collector of Alipurduar district. He has gotten into an unnecessary controversy when a video went viral where he was seen thrashing a youth in the police station. The youth had made lewd comments on the Facebook post of his wife.

 Nikhil Nirmal has now been sent to forced leave by the Government of West Bengal.
