Anuradha Prasad: Family, Profile and Husband



Anuradha Shukla is the owner of BAG Films and Media Ltd. which owns many television channels, including highly popular News 24 and E 24. She has not any formal education in journalism, but since 1990s known as one of the best women journalists of India.


Anuradha Prasad has done Post Graduation in Political Science from Delhi University. After starting from a small project with business magazine, Monday Matters, she has worked with many media organizations, including Press Trust of India. She launched BAG Films in 1993 and produced many successful programs. Some of the popular programs in both news and entertainment categories that are produced by Anuradha Prasad are – Sansani (Star News), Poll Khol, Khabrein Bollywood Ki (Doordarshan) and Kumkum (Star Plus), among others.

Anuradha Prasad was born in Patna. The name of her father is Thakur Prasad. She is from a reputed Kayastha family of Patna, Bihar.


Her father Thakur Prasad was a successful senior advocate of Patna High Court. Apart from that, Mr. Thakur was the founder member of Jan Sangh. Because of his political association, many big leaders used to come home which gave initial understanding about the prevailing political environment to Anuradha Prasad (and, also to Ravi Shankar Prasad who is currently the Union Minister to the Government of India and a senior BJP parliamentarian).


Anuradha has done her schooling education from Patna. She took admission in Delhi University for Graduation and later PG course.



Husband of Anuradha Prasad

Rajiv Shukla is the husband of Anuradha Prasad. He is a senior Congress leader and cricket administrator. He is links and friends in all parties, in Bollywood and in the Indian Cricket.

Anuradha Prasad was working with Press Trust of India in 1985. A young and well-known journalist Rajiv Shukla was working with Sunday Magazine. The offices of both of these organizations were in the same building and employees used to go to the same canteen. That was where Rajiv Shukla came closer to Anuradha Prasad.


Rajiv proposed Anuradha who was little bit hesitant. She thought that her family will not accept an inter-caste marriage. When she talked about her love interest with Ravi Shankar Prasad, he asked her to go ahead. Ravi Shankar convinced the family.


Anuradha Prasad married Rajiv Shukla in 1988. However, she decided to retained her maiden surname and not change it to Shukla.



Anuradha and Rajiv have one daughter named Vaanya.
