Vijay Rupani is
the new Chief Minister of Gujarat. He has replaced Anandi Ben Patel. He was
preferred over powerful state BJP leader Nitin Patel, who has been designated
as the Deputy Chief Minister. The elevation of Vijay Rupani is little bit
shocking, but not out of logic. The party can’t afford to lose the upcoming
Assembly Election and needs a face which can unite the party. It has to see
that Patel community can’t go away from it, but also to retain the support base
among other communities. The Dalit issues are already being given
disproportionate media coverage and hence a honest and clean leader at the helm
was required. Vijay Rupani filled that slot.
