My mother was having fever coupled with back pain. When
symptomatic medicines didn't give any positive result, I took her to a
physician. The doctor asked for some blood tests and later declared that she
was suffering from dengue. She was prescribed many medicines along with
Caripill.
Caripill is a herbal supplement which is made of Papaya Leaf
Extract. It is being claimed to be a sure shot treatment of Dengue. I had given
this medicine to my mother and here I am sharing my experience. My attempt is
to clear many doubts and misinformation that have gone viral over the social
media websites about this medicine. Dengue has become a serious health issue in
the Northern India in the rainy season.
There is no specific treatment for dengue. However, Micro
Labs which happens to be a reputed pharmaceutical company claims that they have
found a treatment for Dengue. Unfortunately, Caripill isn't a treatment for
Dengue. The best it can do is to improve the platelet count.
For my mother, even this single benefit of Caripill didn't
give any positive result. Her platelet count did not show any improvement
despite giving this wonder medicine. Fortunately, she didn't report any side
effects. Over time, she also came out from the clutches of Dengue.
However, Caripill had no role in her improved condition. If
I am asked whether one should take Caripill or not, I will bluntly reply to
avoid taking it. If your platelet count is falling, then you can try it. But,
you should focus on drinking sufficient amount of liquid. That will help you to
have improved platelet count.
